John M. Lapinski

John M. Lapinski, age 91, died Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Rose Mary Manor in Mattoon. John was born February 19, 1927 in Antigo to the late John J. and Leokadya Lapinski. On July 26, 1952, he married Arlene Duquette in Antigo. She preceded him in death on August 8, 2009. John was a graduate of Antigo High School class of 1945. He served in the Merchant Marines. He then became an apprentice electrician, working for Dunrite. He became a licensed electrician and worked for WPS as a service technician and later City Gas. He most recently worked as supervisor of building, grounds and maintenance at NTC- Antigo retiring in 1986. John was a member of St. Mary and Hyacinth's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He loved scenic car rides looking for deer, polka dancing, and trips to the casino. He was also a member of Men's Chorus. Survivors include his daughters, Mary (Terrance) Gau of Rancho Santa Marguerita, CA and Julie (Mike) Kryka of Antigo; sons, Tom (Shari) Lapinski of Ogdensburg and Steve Lapinski of Bryant and 2 grandchildren Bailey and Kyle Gau. In addition to his parents and wife, John was preceded in death by a grandson Brandon Lapinski, a brother Ted and a sister Sophie. A memorial service will take place Thursday, May 3 at 1:00PM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. Father David Schmidt will officiate. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Queen of Peace Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in John's name may be directed to Music in The Park.
