David Larson

David Donald Larson, 83, died Saturday, July 6, 2013 at his home in Elton. He was born, February 4, 1930 in Scandinavia, WI where he grew up on the Larson family farm, the son of Clarence and Ruth (Hoy) Larson. He married Nancy Ruth Beckman on September 15, 1956 in Waupaca. Dave graduated in 1948 from Scandinavia High School. He was a Fire Chief in Scandinavia for the volunteer fire department. He began mink ranching in Scandinavia. In 1961, Dave and Nancy with their family moved to Elton where he continued mink ranching until his retirement in 1990. Mr. Larson was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Polar. He enjoyed construction and excavating equipment, woodworking, Harley-Davidson Motorcycles, and John Deere tractors and equipment. He believed in forest management and liked working outside. He was very fond of auctions. In addition to his wife, survivors include four sons, Dennis Larson , Greeley, CO, Ronald (Cindy) Larson, Wausau, Chris Larson, Mosinee, and Paul Larson, Wausau; a granddaughter, Marna (Paul) Bestul, Milwaukee; a sister, Irene (Dave) Lastofka, Iola and two brothers, Arne, Clintonville and Norman (Elva), Waupaca and sister-in-law, Maretta Larson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Clifford. A memorial fund will be established in his name. A funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 11 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Polar with Pastor Nancy Richmond officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. a.m. prior to the funeral service at the church. Strasser-Roller Funeral Home is assisting the family.
