Frances M. Howe passed away on March 13, 2024 at Evergreen Terrace at the age of 103.
Frances was born on October 23, 1920 in Elcho to the late Ole and Marie (Johnson) Tveten. She was united in marriage to John Howe. He preceded her in death in 1988. Over the years, Frances also spent time residing in Milwaukee, before moving back to Elcho in 1990.
Frances graduated from Elcho High School in 1938. She worked for an ordnance plant during World War II. She also worked in photo finishing as well as for the US Postal Service and Kohl’s Distribution.
She was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Elcho where she was also a member of the Ladies Aid. Frances was an avid Packer’s fan, rarely missing a game. She enjoyed reading and traveling. She always loved being the designated host whenever family came into town and her family always appreciated her cooking and baking. She was involved with the senior center meals program and took advantage of the exercise classes they provided.
Frances is survived by daughter Judy (Tom) Rustick of Elcho, grandchildren Jeffrey (Beth) Rustick, Michael (Heather) Rustick, James (Kelly) Rustick, Samuel (Sylvia) Rustick, and Shawn Howe, great grandchildren Kyle, Derek, Cody, Benjamin, Jason, Andrew “AJ”, Jenna, Zachery, Jacob, and Sammi, and great great grandchildren, Evelyn, Grace, Myles, Claire, Harvey, Kevin, Rosalina, Ezekiel, and Jackson, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Frances was preceded in death by a son John Howe, sisters Elaine Reynolds and Ruth Mikolajak, and brothers Douglas, Walter, Gordon, Charles, and Dean Tveten.
A funeral service for Frances will take place on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 3:00 PM at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Elcho with Rev. Paul Radke officiating. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the church. A burial will be held at a later date at Elcho Cemetery.
