Georgian Ourada, age 90, died peacefully Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Langlade Hospital under the care of her family and LeRoyer Hospice. She was born in Marathon County on July 12, 1920, daughter of the late Ferdinand and Genevieve David. She married Edward G. Ourada on June 21, 1941 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Antigo. Edward preceded her in death on April 18, 2009.Mrs. Ourada was employed at Weinbrenner Shoe Factory until 1945 when she and her husband purchased the Dixie Lunch. She operated the restaurant with her family until her retirement in early 2009. Her expertise and talent in the kitchen have been passed down to her family, and the community continues to enjoy food and hospitality of the Dixie tradition. According to the book Cafe Wisconsin, the Dixie Lunch is the longest continuously family owned cafe in the state. She was a devoted mother and a hard worker, raising seven children and working at the family restaurant for over 60 years without complaint. She was a member of SS. Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church. Survivors include 3 daughters, Deb (Kevin) Brodziski of Antigo, Sue (Mark) Stanton of Antigo, Jeanne (Scott) Van Derhei of Montgomery, TX; 4 sons, Larry (Peg) of Antigo, Gary "Gus"of Antigo, Steve (Kathy) of Edmonds, WA, and Tom (Eddie Bermudez) of Madison; a sister, Violet Koudelka of West Salem; 11 grandchildren, Mike (Melisa) Van Derhei, Shellie (Mike) Trudell, Lindsey Ourada, Tracie Ourada, Nicki Ourada, Maria Stanton, Sarah Stanton, Shannon Stanton, Laura Brodziski, Rebecca Brodziski, and Sam Ourada; 7 great-grandchildren, Avery Trudell, Dawson Trudell, Zoey Trudell, Monica Ourada, Maddy Richling, Izzy Richling, and Gabby Richling; 3 sisters-in-law, Florence David of Antigo, Vi (Gene) Zeuske of Shawano, and Audrey Ourada of Antigo; and a brother-in-law, Rudy (Cel) Ourada of Reedsville.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Fred David; a sister-in-law, Albina Ourada; 8 brothers-in-law, George Koudelka, and James, Ben, Harry, Charley, Emil, Joe, and George Ourada.A funeral mass will take place at 10:30 a.m. Mon., May 9 at SS. Mary & Hyacinth Church, with Fr. Michael Betley officiating. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sun. at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home with a parish wake service at 4:00 p.m. A second visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Mon. at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Bohemian National Cemetery. Memorials in Georgian's name will be directed to the Ourada Family Scholarship Fund, benefiting graduates of Antigo High School.
