Ruth R. Buettner

November 24, 1918 — October 18, 2013

Ruth Buettner, age 94, was called to her eternal home on October 18, 2013 at Kindred-Eastview. She was born November 24, 1918, a twin with her brother Ruben to the late Elsie and August Buettner, at their farm home in the Town of Wolf River. She grew up as a happy, healthy sheltered child and attended the Wolf River Grade School at Langlade. She lived with and helped care for her parents when they retired from farming and thereafter with her brother "Fritz" for many years until moving to Eastview several years ago. She was a lifelong member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in White Lake and one of the first to be baptized, instructed and confirmed there and attended regularly. She had a "child-like" faith and loved and memorized church hymns. Her hobby was filling scrapbooks with religious pictures, poems, prayers, and consoling verses for all occasions. Ruth loved little children and communicated well with them. She was a willing and trustworthy babysitter for many family members. She is survived by 3 brothers, Robert (Rowena) Buettner of Wausau, Carl (Dianne) Buettner of Antigo, Herb (Genie) Buettner of White Lake, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Florence (Alvin) Simmons and Catherine (Ed) Mytas; and 6 brothers; Arnold (Helen), Casper (Jeannette), Ruben, Raymond (Shirley), August Jr. (Judy), Alfred "Fritz", and her twin brother, Ruben (Betty). A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in White Lake, with Rev. Steven Vaudt officiating. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 Monday at the church. Interment will follow the service at Langlade Cemetery in the Town of Wolf River. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established for St. Matthew Lutheran Church.
