Violet Rose Amanda Lenzner, of Antigo, died November 28, 2014 at Eastview Rehabilitation Center. She was 103 years old. Violet was born March 14, 1911 in Antigo to the late Gustav and Amelia (Duchrow) Fischer. She was a "first generation" American citizen. Violet married Anton (Tony) Lenzner on June8, 1937 at Peace Lutheran Church in Antigo. He preceded her in death on January 14, 1983. After marriage Violet and Tony lived in the Town of Pine River, Lincoln County, and in Hurley, WI, where Tony was a cheese maker. In 1941 they returned to Antigo to live and raise their children. Violet was a faithful member of Peace Lutheran Church graduating from Peace Lutheran School in 1926. She was also a member of the Antigo High School graduating class of 1930. Prior to her marriage to Tony, Violet was employed at Kingsbury Photo Shop and the Antigo "Dime Store" where she met Gene Autry, the singing cowboy. In later years, she was employed by the Antigo Candy Company, where she worked with her son Allen. Violet loved gardening both vegetables and flowers. She was awarded the Horticulture Award by the Antigo Garden Club for her flower displays. Survivors include a son, Allen (LouAnn Tousey) Lenzner of Antigo, two daughters, Janet Haviland of The Villages, FL, and Judy Lenz of Tuscon, AZ, a daughter-in-law, Karen Lenzner of Antigo. She is further survived by 11 grandchildren, Khala (Allen Doucette) Sullivan, Kip (Renae) Lenzner, Kendra (Jerry) Peschke, Leah (Jeff) Lutz, D. Kent (Tracy) Haviland, Dave (Stacy) Haviland, Heidi (Jeff) Klausen, Jason (Megan) Drabek, Laura (Kevin) McKenna, Tony (Stacy) Lenzner, and Margie Lenzner, 3 step-grandchildren, Kaia (Richard) Gravitter, Kim (Joe) Doezel, and Allen (Debbie Stayer) Krause, 28 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Violet was preceded in death by a son Richard, a son-in-law Duane Haviland, brothers, Alfred, George, and Earl Fischer and one sister Fern Federman. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 6 at 11:00 AM at Peace Lutheran Church. Reverend David Karolus will officiate. Visitation will be prior to the service at the church from 9:30 until 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established in her name.
