Adeline Kieper

Adeline Kieper, age 95, of Antigo died February 14, 2022 at Evergreen Terrace under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. Adeline was born on September 25, 1926 in the Town of Norwood to the late Emil and Amanda (Koch) Shank. On February 15, 1947 she was united in marriage to Gerhart "Gary" Kieper at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Polar. Gary preceded her in death on December 5, 2018. Adeline was a graduate of Antigo High School class of 1944. She went on to attend the Langlade County Normal School. Adeline taught in Antigo for 3 years. She and Gary then moved to the state of Oregon, where she continued her teaching career for 40 years. She received her bachelor's degree in teaching from Mount Angel Women's College. Gary and Adeline returned to the Antigo Area in 2000. Together they enjoyed motorcycling, fishing and horses. Adeline was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Survivors include her sister Phyllis (Tom) Hunchusky of Illinois, brother Eugene Shank of Madison, sisters-in-law Angeline Fischer of Oregon, Marjorie (Carroll) Erlandson of Prairie du Sac, and Darlene (Vern) Raab of Antigo, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Adeline was preceded in death by her sisters Ruby Gresch, Ione Wheeler, and Helen Pecha, a brother Ruben Shank, and brothers-in-law Reinhart Kieper. Glenford Kieper and David Koch and Dennis Fischer and a sister-in-law Marion Koch. A funeral service will be held on Saturday May 14, 2022 at 1:00 PM at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Polar. Reverend Donald Engebretson will officiate. Visitation will take place prior to the service at the church from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in the St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Peter's Lutheran Church. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Sarah Voytovich and the staff at Evergreen Terrance for their loving care of Adeline. Strasser-Roller Funeral Home is assisting the family.
