Allegra Dorothy Oliver, a beloved member of the community, passed peacefully February 20, 2026, at Wood Aven Health & Rehabilitation in Wausau, Wisconsin.
She was born on November 28, 1937, in the town of Harrison as the only child to the late Charles and Julia (York) DeRuyter. She graduated from Antigo High School in 1956 and married Laurence Edward Oliver November 24, 1956. He passed January 15, 2012.
Together they raised 7 children, Marilyn Baur, Carolyn Le, Char Wiederhoeft, Bill Oliver, Donna Hackbarth, Christine Winscher and Larry Oliver. They ran a dairy farm in the early years and switched to raising beef cattle in the 1970’s. Allegra was a full-time homemaker and farmer’s wife, gardening was her passion, along with reading and sewing. She raised chickens, canned vegetables, and always had a full freezer and root cellar. She is survived by her 7 children, and 13 grandchildren (Jason, Jamie, Brian, Brandon, Andrew, Julia, Naomi, Dustin, Koal, Kailye, Austin, Ryan & Hunter), 11 great-grandchildren (Ali, Isabella, Lily, Danielle, Christopher, Mackenzie, Cora, Oliver, Jude, Miles & Maddox), and 1 great-great-grandchild (Madison).
Allegra was known for her soft-spoken manner and easygoing nature. She loved her family and having picnics with them. She loved bunnies, flowers, and ice cream, all the simple things in life. She always looked for the best in people and somehow, found it. As a young woman, she dreamed of becoming a nurse, and in her retirement, she did just that, working as a visiting nurse for an elderly neighbor. She loved putting puzzles together and watching country music shows.
Allegra and Laurence traveled across the U.S. in their RV, including Alaska, California & Texas. Her favorite trips were to Nova Scotia and the Blue Ridge Mountains. She was a devoted member of the Church of the Nazarene of Wausau.
Family and friends may pay their respects at a graveside service on May 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery in Hogarty. A celebration of life picnic will follow at the Dells of Eau Claire in the large park shelter near the dells.
