Anthony John Kielcheski, age 76 of Summit Lake, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2022 at the home of his daughter after a courageous 8 year battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was under the care of his family and LeRoyer Hospice.
Tony was born in Antigo on July 30, 1946 to the late Gertie (Baker) and Fred Kielcheski. On July 25, 1970, he was united in marriage to Jane Brush. She survives along with his beloved dog companion Milli.
He attended Hollister Grade School where he was the second smartest in his class (out of 2). He then graduated from White Lake High School in 1964. He was proudly voted prom king in high school. He served in the U.S. Army from 1967-1969 on the Czech border during the Russian Invasion. He then worked for the Langlade County Forestry Department for 30 years where he served as the assistant department administrator. Because of his love for forestry, he continued to work privately as a consultant after retirement.
Tony enjoyed Baseball and softball. He also enjoyed hunting, which he did until his final week. He liked spending time fishing, camping, and riding UTVs. He was known for his great sense of humor and love of beer. He most loved time spent with family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Jane, Tony is survived by daughters, Holli (Kenny) Bastle of Antigo and Kami (Eric) Nicholson of Antigo, sisters, Franny (Jim) Brown, Mary Krueger, Patti (Wayne) Schreier, and Mary Kolberg, sister-in-law, Diane Kryka, grandchildren, Brandon Bastle, Brittney Bastle, Danny (Mackenzie) Nicholson, Hunter Nicholson, and Presley (Colton) Kizewski, great grandchildren, Kylee, Salem, Summit, and Koast, and one on the way, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by brother Michael Kielcheski, 3 infant brothers, brothers-in-law, Jim Brush, Monte Krueger, Wally Kolberg, and mother and father-in-law, Dale and Irene Brush.
A memorial service for Tony will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 4:00 PM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. A visitation will take place prior to the service at the funeral home from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. Military Honors for Tony will be performed at the funeral home following the service. Those attending are asked to wear apparel that represents Tony's love of beer. "It's 12 o'clock somewhere."
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial being established in Tony's name.
