Arlene Somann

Arlene Somann, age 93, passed away on September 5, 2024, under the care of her family and Aspirus Comfort Care.

Arlene was born on June 27, 1931 in Polar to the late Otto and Sarah (Kieper) Hintz. Arlene was united in marriage to Lawrence “Larry” Somann on October 18, 1952 in Antigo. The couple moved to Milwaukee to start a family.

Besides being a loving mother to her children, Arlene took great joy in caring for children in her home while their parents worked. She opened her heart and her home to extended family and friends. She was affectionately call “Mom” by many. She was always willing to answer a question or lend a hand, but it would “cost you a nickel”.

Arlene is survived by children, Jeffrey (Ginger) Somann of FL, Gregory (Jeanne) Somann of Ashippun, Lorri Krueger of Marion, Steven Somann of CA, and Guy (Trisha) Somann of New Berlin, sister Joan Heistad, grandchildren, Sarah, Kristin, Joel, Jesse, Jacob, Ryan, MandiLyn, Chantele-Arae, Charles, and Lillian, great grandchildren, Makenna, Ruthi, and Jesse Jr. “JP”, Gage, Christian, Stephanie and many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Arlene was preceded in death by a son-in-law Curly Krueger, siblings; Rueben Hintz, Wally Hintz, Elayne Baker, Al Hintz, Erv Hintz, Grace Franklin, Eleanor Ortieb, Jeannette Allen, James Hintz, and Carol Hoolsema.

A memorial service for Arlene will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home with Pastor Dustin Deike officiating. Visitation will take place prior to the service, at the funeral home from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Interment will follow the service at the Town of Polar Cemetery.
