Arthur "Art" J. Strasser

Arthur J. Strasser “Art” passed away on August 11, 2026 surrounded by family, under the care of Tomah Health Hospice Tomah. He was 96 years old.

Art was born on April 18, 1930 in Township of Rolling, to Benjamin and Sylvia (Bahr) Strasser. He was a graduate of Antigo High School. On August 8, 1951, Art married Jeannie Zwirschitz in Aniwa, WI.

Art was in the service from March 1951 to March 1953. He was stationed in Ft. Bliss, TX where he attended artillery cooking school. He was a E4 Corporal, Battery A 9th training battalion.

He worked at Kraft Foods in Antigo for 43 years and was an American Legion member. He also did volunteer work at church and senior center delivering meals on wheels. Art also enjoyed playing golf.

Art is survived by daughter Sandy (Roger) Mortensen of New Lisbon, WI, son Randy Strasser of Cottage Grove, WI, six grandchildren, Heather (Ted) Boylan of Chicago, IL, Derek (Teresa) Mortensen of Oconomowoc, WI, Amanda (Matt) McQueen of Poynette, WI, Ryan (Marie) Strasser of New Berlin, WI, Anna (Bryce) Ryan of Poynette, WI and Alysa Strasser of Sun Prairie, WI and 11 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his great granddaughter Piper Rose Mortensen, sister Dorothy, brothers George and Ken.

We would also like to thank all the staff at Crestview Nursing Home in New Lisbon for the wonderful care they have given dad.

A funeral service for Art will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at 11:30am at Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor David Karolus officiating. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 10:00am to 11:30am. Burial will be held at a later date at Elmwood Cemetery.
