Arthur Lee Palmer passed away on October 16, 2023 at Aurora Medical Center at the age of 86.
Arthur was born in Antigo to the late Orrin Lee Palmer and Kathryn Regina (Richard) Palmer. He married the love of his life, Bonnie Joyce Lass, on March 9, 1956.
Arthur served in the U.S. Army for 3 years after which he worked as a laborer for Briggs and Stratton. Upon retirement in 1990, he and Bonnie moved to Elcho, WI.
Being the quiet, reserved person he was, the north woods provided the perfect place for Arthur to build his final home. He found peace in watching and feeding the local wildlife right in his backyard, the same backyard that he wouldn’t allow anyone else to mow.
Arthur was a wealth of knowledge and taught his kids and grandkids many things, including, the value of honesty, the importance of family, and how to make the perfect pancakes. There was nothing more important than family to Arthur, and he found joy in watching his family continue to grow.
In addition to his wife Bonnie, Arthur is survived by his daughter Chis Wolski (Bill) and son Scott Palmer, grandchildren Erica McCalister, Amanda Otis, Kristel Welzien, Michelle Lasky, Marissa Wolski, Jourdan Crawford, Nicholas Palmer, Benjamin Palmer, Noah Palmer, and 18 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Arthur was preceded in death by a brother Claire Richard Palmer.
A visitation for Arthur will take place on Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home in Antigo. Following the visitation, burial will take place at Elcho Cemetery with military honors.
