Audrey A. Ahlers

Audrey Alice Ahlers died Thursday, April 10 at her home in Antigo under the care of LeRoyer Hospice, her family, and friends. She was 92 years old. She was born July 28, 1921 in Antigo, daughter of the late Floyd and Lillian (Duerenberger) Schroeder. She married Raymond Ahlers on May 29, 1942 in Antigo. He preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Antigo High School. She was a homemaker and was also employed outside of the home. She worked at the Shopper's Guide, Tesch's Supper Club, and Weinbrenner Shoe Factory. For a time, she was a welder at Briggs & Stratton in Milwaukee, and also did upholstery work. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church. Mrs. Ahlers loved to try new things, dancing, flowers, gardening, and making stained glass, sewing, and rosemalling. Coffee and Hershey Kisses were her favorite. She loved the sun, and playing games and cards with family and friends at Antigo Community Center. Survivors include 2 daughters, Jo L. Ahlers (fiancé Keith Romenesko) of Antigo, and Sandra (Kenneth) Tillman of Argonne; 2 sisters, Elaine (Dave) Simon of Polar, and Donna Brettingen of Antigo; 4 grandchildren, Kim L. (Allen) Keepers of Argonne, Michelle R. Tillman (special friend Brian Gerow) of Argonne, Stefanie (Joe) Tatro of Phlox, Aaron (Brittany) Hose of Antigo; 7 great-grandchildren, Tony Keepers, Jon Keepers, Drew Keepers, Trisha (Casey) Alsteen, Quinten Hose, Ayla Tatro, and Lindsey Tatro; 2 great-great-grandchildren, Jaxon Keepers, and Evan Alsteen; and her dear friend Peggy (Dave) Kluwe. In addition to her husband Raymond, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Charlene Schlundt; and 2 grandchildren, Katrina McCorkle, and Kenny Tillman. A memorial service will take place at 4:00 p.m. Monday at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. Fr. David Schmidt will officiate. Visitation will be 1:00-4:00 at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Elmwood Cemetery on a later date.
