Bernard "Bernie" J. Drexler

Bernard "Bernie" John Drexler of Antigo, died at Kindred – Eastview on Friday, March 28, 2014. He was 89 years old. He was born in the Town of Rolling on May 22, 1924 to the late Wenzel and Elizabeth (Sazamas) Drexler. He married Viola Shepherd on May 23, 1945 in Antigo. She preceded him in death on Aug. 12, 1999. Mr. Drexler graduated from Antigo High School in 1942. He operated farms in the Town of Rolling and Town of Summit, and was also a logger. He was employed at Gilbert Paper Company in Appleton, and Press Steel Tank Company and Unit Crane in Milwaukee. He enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, word puzzle books, dominoes, hunting, and fishing. He especially loved time with his grandchildren. Survivors include 2 daughters, Delilah (Keith) Ross of Appleton, and Carol (Terry) Braun of Sturgeon Bay; 3 sons, Carl (Sandy) Drexler of Deerbrook, Michael (Holly) Drexler of Negaunee, MI, and Gary (Mellody) Drexler of White Lake; a sister, Virginia (Herman) Oesterrich of Clintonville; 12 grandchildren, Danette Ross of Shiocton, Keith Ross (significant other Jeanne Reimer) of Appleton, Ryan Ross (significant other Mechella Wheeler) of Appleton, Jennifer Braun (significant other Damien Konrad) of Sturgeon Bay, Erin Braun of Sturgeon Bay, Troy (Rhonda) Drexler of Deerbrook, Todd (Maribel) Drexler of the Town of Summit, Kevin (Kirsten) Drexler of Wausau, Victoria Mendoza of Sheboygan, Kent Drexler of White Lake, Kurt Drexler of Elcho, and Stacy (Michael) Hollenbeck of Whitehall, MI; 12 great-grandchildren, Cody Ross, Jake Ross, Ella Ross, Jenna Ross, Hayden Braun, Crystal Drexler, Julie Drexler, Gwendolyn Drexler, Eli Drexler, Katelyn Mendoza, Jordan Mendoza, and Emily Mendoza; and a step-great-grandchild, Johnny Zaverousky. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth; a brother, Wenzel, Jr.; and a great-grandchild, Raydon Braun. A funeral service will take place at 10:30 Wednesday at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home, with Pastor Ervin Messer officiating. Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Elmwood Cemetery.
