Bernard Henry Klitz, age 92, of Antigo, died Saturday at his home under the care of LeRoyer Hospice and his family. Bernard was born on July 22, 1926 in Antigo to the late Henry and Annie (Schisel) Klitz. On August 8, 1953, he was united in marriage to Mary Jane Waldvogel at St. Joseph Holy Family Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on October 2, 1982. Bernard resided in Milwaukee while working for American Motors and returned home on weekends to operate the family dairy farm along with his wife. In 1978, he retired from American Motors and returned to Antigo, continuing to operate the farm with his son until 1990. Bernard served in the US Army during World War II. He was a member of Leland – Tollefson VFW Post 2653. He was also a member of St. Joseph Holy Family Catholic Church in Phlox. Bernard is survived by two daughters; Donna (Richard) Wilhelm of Phlox and Diane Klitz of Antigo, mother-in-law; Pearl Waldvogel of Birnamwood, a brother-in-law; Marty (Judy) Waldvogel of Antigo, brothers and sisters; Alice Cahak of Antigo, Viola Frisch of Crivitz, Rosemary (Henry) Frisch of Nekoosa and Florida, Betty (George) Steber of Nekoosa, Harvey Klitz of Franklin, Shirley Loehrl of Aniwa, three grandchildren; Mark (Andrea) Wilhelm of Antigo, Matthew (Melissa)Wilhelm of Antigo, Jason (Jodie) Wilhelm of Athens, three great grandchildren; Caleb, Madalyn and Rebecca Wilhelm, many nieces and nephews and family friend and caregiver; Marge. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son John Henry Klitz and two brothers; Raymond and Harold Klitz, his father-in-law; John Waldvogel, brother-in-laws; Raymond Cahak, Louis Frisch, Leonard Loehrl and a sister-in-law; Ann Klitz. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday at St. Joseph Holy Family Church in Phlox at 11:30 AM. Reverend Edmundo Siguenza will officiate. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 AM until the service on Thursday. Interment will be in St. Joseph Holy Family Catholic Cemetery. Bernard will be honored with military rites at the cemetery.
