Bernice “Breezy” Van Boxtel, formerly of Pelican Lake and Appleton, passed away on August 4, 2025, under the care of her family, dear friend Diana Helser and her grandson Odin, and LeRoyer Hospice. She was 103 years old.
Breezy was born on December 19, 1921 in Appleton to the late Arthur and Selma (Luebke) Kollath. She married Urban Van Boxtel in 1944 in Appleton. He preceded her in death in 1974.
Breezy began her career at Zwicker Knitting Mills as a knitwear specialist, where her talent and dedication led her to become a knitwear designer. Her creativity and talent later earned her a role designing knitwear featured in the Paddington Bear Catalog. During World War II, Breezy used her artistic abilities to oil tint pictures of soldiers for their loved ones. She also enjoyed crocheting, bowling, and spending time with friends and family. She was a former member at Bethany Lutheran Church in Appleton.
Breezy is survived by children Sandi (Bob) Larson of Antigo and Stan Van Boxtel of Antigo.
A funeral service for Breezy will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. Visitation will take place prior to the service at the funeral home from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Burial will take place on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Community Lutheran Cemetery in Freedom, WI.
