Bert "Jack" Buetow

Bert "Jack" Buetow, age 82, of Antigo, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 with family by his side at the Wisconsin Rapids Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, under the care of Heartland Hospice. Jack was born to August and Ann (Heller) Buetow on January 22, 1932, in Antigo, Wisconsin. He graduated from Antigo High School in 1950. After graduating from high school, Jack moved to the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area where he enjoyed working, for many years, at Gettelman Brewery, Schlitz Brewery and Miller Brewery. He married Jeanean Long on December 22, 1975 in Milwaukee, WI and they shared many happy years together. Jack brought laughs and smiles to many people with the great stories he would tell about his hunting, fishing, and life experiences. You could tell by his grin that he was about to tell you a "good one". He loved the outdoors and also enjoyed playing cards and traveling. After retiring, Jack returned to the Antigo area, where he met his special friend, Renie Wagner. Jack was also a member of the Kiwanis Club. Jack is survived by his special friend, Irene (Renie) Wagner of Antigo; his brother, Robert Buetow of Beloit, WI; and many special nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends, and neighbors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanean, his three sisters, Verda Ballard, Genevieve Fries Beattie, and Betty Jane Buetow and three brothers, Floyd Buetow, Kenneth Buetow, and William Buetow. Visitation will take place from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Calvary Lutheran Church, 310 South Superior Street in Antigo, WI. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm with Rev. Karen Tews officiating. Interment will take place on a later date in Elmwood Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, a memorial will be designated in Jack's name at a later date. The family of Jack would like to express their gratitude to the staff at the Wisconsin Rapids Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Heartland Hospice.
