Blanche L. Miller (formerly Spurgeon), former area resident, died Fri. May 1 in Waupaca. She was 73 years old.She was born Sept. 24, 1935 in Hollister, daughter of the late Leonard and Edith (Meeks) Clay. She married Roy Spurgeon, and they were divorced. She later married Clarence Miller, and he survives. Mrs. Miller worked as a nurse's aide at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation, and later cared for people in their homes for many years.A longtime Antigo resident, Mrs. Miller had lived in Birnamwood in recent years before moving to the Wisconsin Veteran's Home with her husband, Clarence.Mrs. Miller belonged to the Red Hatter's Club at King. She enjoyed playing bingo and gambling, and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.Survivors, in addition to her husband, include 2 daughters, Candace (special friend Rick Elst) Spurgeon of Antigo, and Pamela (Paul) Peppler; 4 sisters, Ella Iris of Slinger, Vivian Straley of Crandon, Violet Sprinkler of TX, Alma (Herman) Albrecht of Birnamwood; 2 brothers, Franklin Clay of MO, and Earl (Debra) Clay of Hollister; 3 grandchildren, Heather Meyer of Seattle, Joseph Meyer of Oshkosh, and Hillary Peppler of Neenah; 4 stepchildren, Terry (Debbie) Miller of MN, Shirley (Ernie) Mehner of Dorchester, Lynn Miller, and Beverly of Rice Lake; many nieces and nephews; many step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, and step great great grandchildren; and a very special cat, Buffy.She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother Richard; 4 sisters, Grace Kainz, Jean Kainz, Gladys Vaughn, and Marie Paine; and a stepdaughter Audrey Quirinn.
