Bruce W. Beiersdorf, age 87, of Pelican Lake, died April 11, 2014 at Rennes Health and Rehab Center in Rhinelander. Bruce was born August 16, 1926 to the late Bernhard and Lydia (Bretzke) Beirsdorf. On February 6, 1976 he married Jean Donohue in Wausau. She survives. He was a graduate of Antigo High School in 1944. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving as a radar operator on 2 destroyers in the South Pacific. After military service, Bruce returned to Wisconsin and was employed by Wisconsin Public Service for 40 years, until his retirement in 1986. He was a member and past director of Wisconsin Public Service's 25-year Club. Bruce was a delegate from Langlade County to the Conservation Congress for 35 years, serving on the big game committee. He was a past vice president of the Pelican Lake Property Owners Association, a lifetime member and trustee of the Pelican Lake – Elcho VFW Post 920. In 1991, he and his wife Jean moved to Pelican Lake, where Bruce enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was especially fond of duck hunting and bow hunting. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and The National Turkey Federation. He enjoyed traveling and included among his favorite travels were Canadian fly-in fishing trips with friends, family and the grandsons as well as trips to Mexico where they met many friends. In addition to his wife, survivors include a stepson, Dennis (Jill) Donohue of Manitowoc and 2 step grandsons, Cory Donohue of Asheville, NC and Derek Donohue of DePere and his nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday April 16 at 11:00 AM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. Reverend Wes Jedras will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Bruce's name.
