Carla Lee Hose, age 88, died of complications related to COVID-19 on Thursday, October 29, 2020. She passed away peacefully at The Bay at Eastview where she received such wonderful care. Carla was born on October 21, 1932, in Kalamazoo MI, a daughter to Walter and Bernice Fassbender. She married Edward M. Hose on October 28, 1950. He preceded her in death on May 7, 2009. Carla was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Polar WI. She attended Black Creek Elementary School and graduated from Antigo High School in 1950. Carla cherished her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She particularly loved large family gatherings where she prepared everything and would not accept any help from anyone. Seldom was there a day that an extra dinner plate was not set at her table as she often invited anyone who stopped in to stay for dinner. Her expansive heart was not only filled for the love of her family, but she also took in foster children and treated them as her very own. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, gardening and house cleaning, so much so that after retiring she would clean some of her neighbor’s households. Edward and Carla were dairy farmers in Polar for 30 years where they raised their family. In 1980 they purchased a tavern in Mattoon, Ed & Carla’s, which they owned and operated until they retired and moved to Antigo in 1995. Survivors include three sons, John (Lory) Hose, Kenosha, James (Wanda) Hose, Polar and Dennis (Joan) Hose, Elton; three daughters, Cheryl (Robert) Hoffman, Plover, Julia (Douglas) Below, Pelican Lake and Jayne (Charles) Novak, St. Germain; She will also be sadly missed by her twelve grandchildren Sheree (Curt) Spencer, Kristofor (special friend Shelby Walenbeck) Hose, Stefanie (Joe) Tatro, Aaron (Brittany) Hose, Ryan (Carrie) Hoffman, Eric (Erin) Hoffman, Britney (Chad) Bolkema, Beau (Lindsey) Below, Nikayla and Haylie Novak, Lyle (Nikki) Castona, Beth (Craig) Spence, and twenty great grandchildren. Also surviving her are three sisters, Shirley Gamsky, Joanne Losito and Judy Tilch; and two sisters-in-law, Anna Peska and Mary Fassbender, and many nieces and nephews who loved Carla dearly.
