Carol Jean Close, former Antigo resident, died Sunday, October 26, 2014 at Oakwood Manor Assisted Living in Oshkosh under the care of Heartland Hospice and her family. She was 74 years old. She was born June 15, 1940 in Antigo, daughter of the late Norman Farrell and Dorothy (Betts) Forsberg. She married Dale Close on June 13, 1959, and he preceded her in death on June 13, 2014. Mrs. Close graduated from Antigo High School in 1958. She was a homemaker, and resided in Antigo until she recently moved to Oshkosh to be near two of her children. She was an avid reader, and also enjoyed sewing. She had a servant heart, which she demonstrated through her love for her family. Survivors include 2 daughters, Karen (John) Flatten of Rochester, MN, and Kathy Close of Oshkosh; 2 sons, Randy (Angie) Close of Antigo, and Richard (Cara) Close of Oshkosh; 6 grandchildren, Alexandria Forster, Caleb Flatten, David Close, Daniel Close, Joshua Flatten, and Joseph Close; great-grandson, Deakon Longo; 3 sisters, Mary (John) Sharkey of Hortonville, Diane Forsberg of Middleton, and Julie Forsberg of Middleton; 2 brothers, Tom (Bonnie) Forsberg of West Bend, and Dan (Kris) Forsberg of Iron Ridge. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, James Farrell, and Todd Forsberg. A memorial service will take place at noon on Saturday at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home, with son-in-law John Flatten officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until noon at the funeral home. Burial in Elmwood Cemetery will follow the service.
