Carolyn Franzen

Carolyn Franzen, age 76, passed away on August 9, 2025 at Caraton Commons in Green Bay.

Carolyn was born on December 22, 1948 in Manitowoc to the late Raphael and Catherine (Menchal) Rebechek. She was united in marriage to Melvin Franzen and while the couple later divorced, they lovingly shared two children together. She shared a longtime companionship with Charlie Theix, who then preceded her in death. She was united in marriage to Alger “Mike” Long who preceded Carolyn in death.

Carolyn graduated from Reedsville High School. She went on to work for Winebrenner Shoe Company, Kolbe and Kolbe, Abby Vans, Kretz Lumber and various other businesses.

Carolyn was a member of Ss. Mary and Hyacinth’s Catholic Church. She was known for being a hard worker, often working multiple jobs to provide for her children. She instilled in her children that same dedication and work ethic. She also held a deep appreciation for veterans, inspired by her father’s service in World War 2. She was proud to serve as the 7th district Auxiliary President of the VFW. She dedicated her time to honoring those who served by organizing parades, parties, and the welcome home celebration for veterans returning from the honor flight. She adored her grandkids. She loved following and cheering them on at all their sporting events. They were her greatest joy.

Carolyn is survived by children Tom (Lesley) Franzen of Fayetteville, AR and Sandi (Tim) Robrecht of Antigo, grandchildren Abby Robrecht, Ben Robrecht, and Eli Robrecht, sisters Linda (Pat) O’Connor of Manitowoc and Susan Moore of Oshkosh and 2 nieces and 3 nephews.

In addition to her parents, Charlie Theix, and Alger “Mike” Long, Carolyn was preceded in death by an infant sister.

A memorial service for Carolyn will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home at 12:00 PM. A visitation will take place prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
