Carson Wayne Klinetob

Carson "Kit" Wayne Klinetob, resident of Wisconsin Veterans Home at King and formerly of Antigo, died Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Thedacare in Appleton. He was 97 years old. He was born February 8, 1922 in Berwick, PA to the late Dalbys and Margaret (Hampton) Klinetob. He married Edna Mae Ginader on June 17, 1947 at Elm Park Chapel, Elm Park Methodist Church in Scranton, PA. He graduated from high school in 1940 in Milton, PA, then attended East Stroudsburg University. During his college studies he was called into active duty and completed his undergraduate degree in 1946 when he returned. His post-graduate work was done at the University of PA (Penn State) where he received a degree in Physical Therapy. Kit was also a very talented athlete, playing football in high school and college as well as running track, where he held the state record for hurdles and was called to serve in the military right before his Olympic trials. He was employed as a physical therapist throughout his life, starting his career in Waukegan, IL and moving to central Wisconsin where he worked at Langlade Memorial Hospital and Wausau Medical Center. Mr. Klinetob served in the US Army from August 4, 1942 to July 5, 1945. He was a member of the 397th Infantry Company of the 100th Division in World War II, which liberated Bitche, France. He was proud to share the story of how the town adopted the soldiers as the "Sons of Bitche". He was discharged as a Corporal and received a Purple Heart and 2 Bronze Battle Stars. He was a member of Faith United Church of Christ. In addition, he belonged to the American Legion, VFW, DAV, MOPH, Masons, Scottish Rite and Beja Shrine Club. Survivors include 2 daughters, Sandra (Jack Beggs) Klinetob of Clintonville, and Diane (Torsten Weirich) Klinetob of Austin, TX; 3 grandsons, Dustin Klinetob, Ryan Weirich, and Erik Weirich (Leslie Maldonado); a great-grandson, Carson Weirich; and a brother, Richard Klinetob of Milton, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Edna; an infant son, Gary; and a sister Eloise Marshall. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. A funeral service will take place at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 5 at Faith United Church of Christ. Visitation will be 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the church. Military honors provided by local veterans will follow the service at the church. Interment will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 8 at Milton Cemetery in Milton, PA.
