Catherine Steffens

Catherine "Katie" Steffens of Pickerel died Friday, December 18 at the Crandon Nursing Home. She was 80 years old. She was born June 16, 1929 in Neenah, Wisconsin a daughter of the late Charles and Winifred (Tews) Baker. She married Gordon Steffens in Neenah, WI on July 2, 1949. He preceded her in death on July 13, 2005. Mrs. Steffens graduated from Menasha High School. She grew up in Menasha and lived there until her husband retired in 1985 when they moved to Pickerel where they had vacationed for many years. Mrs. Steffens was a member of St Mary's Catholic Church in Pickerel. She especially enjoyed bowling, playing cards, travel and reading. Survivors include a daughter, Mary (Larry) Laehn, Greenville, WI; four sons, Joe (Rocky) Steffens, Pickerel, Thomas Steffens, Addison, TX, Ronald (Julie) Steffens, Menasha, WI and Dennis (Marge) Steffens, Caroline, WI; 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren; a sister, Susan "Bootsie" Falck, Neenah, WI. In addition to her husband, her parents, a son, Gary and a sister, Norene, precede her in death. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 22 at 4:00 p.m. at the Strasser-Roller Funeral Home in Antigo with Father Charles Hoffmann officiating. Burial will be at Forest Home Cemetery in Townsend, WI. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. prior to the service.
