Charles “Chuck” Malzahn, age 82, of Antigo, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Lakewood Assisted Living, surrounded by his loving family.
Chuck was born on June 1, 1943, in Antigo to the late Frank and Elizabeth (Remkus) Malzahn. He graduated from Antigo High School with the Class of 1961. On September 12, 1964, he was united in marriage to Odelia “Dee” Olivares, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love and devotion.
Chuck dedicated 40 years of service to the Antigo Street Department, where he took great pride in his work and valued the camaraderie of his colleagues. He enjoyed mentoring younger summer employees and sharing his knowledge and experience with them.
In his free time, Chuck enjoyed fishing, hunting, trap shooting, and motorcycling. A true “do-it-yourself” spirit, he was skilled in home repairs and automotive maintenance. He had a love for country music and cherished the companionship of his beloved dog, Max. Chuck also enjoyed spending time at The Dixie restaurant, where he could often be found visiting with friends sharing laughter and good company.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Dee; his son, Marty (Linda) Malzahn; his daughter, Angela Malzahn; two grandchildren, Christopher and Michael; and five great-grandchildren, Lukas, Nicholas, Jackson, Callie, and Mercedes. He is further survived by seven sisters, Lois (Jerry) Fischer, Joyce Angst, Mary Lou (David) Strassle, Marlene Malzahn (Bob Nuthals), Sharon Anderson, Susan Malzahn and Jean (Steve) Kampe, and two brothers, Mark (Babette) Malzahn and Michael Malzahn; two sisters-in-law, Ophelia (Edward) Jones and Olga Worden; two brothers-in-law, Gene Kane and Bob (Jean) Olivares, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Kay Kane, and brother Frank John Malzahn; brothers-in-law Richard “Dick” Angst, Gary Anderson, Roy Olivares and Jack Worden, and sister-in-law Barbara Olivares.
A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, April 18, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church, with The Very Reverend Joel Sember officiating. Visitation will take place at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
