Charles E. "Pete" Hess

Charles E. "Pete" Hess, age 85, of Antigo died Sunday at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation Center.Mr. Hess was born on January 17, 1925 in Rockford, IL to the late George and Naomi (Wishard) Hess.He married Donna Lu Boken-Turner in Rockford, IL. They later divorced. Donna survives and resides in Rockford.In 1956 Mr. Hess moved to the Town of Rolling, where he owned and operated a dairy farm. He also drove truck for Gallenberg Equipment and Gene Miller and owned a gravel pit, LLH, LLC.He enjoyed dancing, watching boxing, and attending music festivals. He collected novelty hats and liked animals. He especially loved his daughtersSurvivors include 2 daughters, Louise (Robert) Marx and Luann Hess, both of Antigo; 2 sisters, Marie Lerch and Georgia Bonacorsi, both of Rockford, IL; 4 grandchildren, Michael (Lisa) Marx, Noella (Steve) Bierman, Terri (Jesse) Fonder, and Jared Marx; 4 great-grandchildren, Lonnie Bierman, Devon Bierman, Mariah Bierman, and AJ Fonder; special friends, Doc and Rose Spencer of Antigo, and Tim Orthman of Antigo.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 sisters, Naomi Lukey, Inona Anderson, Lillian Carlsen, and Elnora Halbin; and 2 brothers, Henry, and Alfred Hess.A service of remembrance will take place at 7:00 PM Wed. at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1-7 Wed. at the funeral home.
