Clair W. Hoffman of Post Lake passed away on September 12, 2026 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital with his family by his side. He was 82 years old.
Clair was born on July 5, 1944 in Mattoon to the late Frank and Dorothy (Czech) Hoffman. He was united in marriage to Maria Baker on June 11, 1966.
Clair attended Antigo High School. He went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Marine Corps for four years. He worked as a tire salesman for Southside Tire.
Claire had many enjoyments throughout his life, but the times he enjoyed most were with his grandchildren. He loved traveling, especially to Hawaii and Europe and took each of the grandchildren on special trips. He enjoyed deer hunting at the cabin also with the grandchildren. Clair was a talented carpenter. He enjoyed putting his skills to use on countless home improvement projects and even took on the impressive project of remodeling a truck.
In addition to his wife Maria, Clair is survived by children Debra (Thomas) Buresh of Duluth, Richard Hoffman of Wausau, and Gina (Cory) Haupt of Eau Claire, former daughter-in-law Jenny Smith-Hoffman of Antigo, grandchildren William and Sam (Brynn) Hoffman and Anna and James Haupt, sisters Jane (Jeff) Binder of Sturgeon Bay, Sally (friend Jeff Priest) Hoffman of Aniwa, Paula (Lance) Reimer of Birnamwood, Alan (Katherine) Hoffman of New London, Lowell (Nancy) Hoffman of Wausau, Mark (Kathryn) Hoffman of Kronenwetter, Howard (Julie) Hoffman of Athens, and his dear canine companion Flash Jr.
In addition to his parents, Clair was preceded in death by his beloved canine companion Flash Sr.
A visitation for Clair will be held on Monday, September 21, 2026 from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. Procession to Ss. Mary and Hyacinths will then take place for an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial with Father Michael Thiel officiating. Burial will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery.
