Clarence John Berdan, Sr. was called home June 9, 2026, at the age of 85. He was at his home in the Town of Peck, surrounded by his loving family.
Clarence was born on February 2, 1941, in Antigo to the late Floyd and Theresa (Busch) Berdan. He was united in marriage to Mary Ann (Kowalski) on August 25, 1962, in Neva, WI, together they raised four children.
He was employed as a semi truck driver for over 40 years and earned numerous safe driving awards. He was a member of the Teamsters union and even served as the union steward.
He was graced with the talent and knowledge to build, fix, or repair nearly everything. He loved caring for his home and making it a refuge for the wildlife that visited. He had a great sense of humor. He will be remembered as a hardworking family man.
Clarence is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary Ann; his children Debbie (Rodney) Paff, Antigo, WI; Ann (Jerome) Dahlke, Wausau, WI; Clarence Jr. (Keena), Sparks, NV; and Daniel, Wheaton, IL; grandchildren Sara and Anthony; and great grandchildren Laney and Logan; brothers-in-law Paul (Mary) Kowalski, Antigo; Steve (Donna) Kowalski, Antigo; and sisters-in-law Caroline Kowalski, Antigo; and Penny Kowalski, Texas; along with many nieces and nephews. In addition, Clarence leaves behind his good friends Richard and Steve, and his pet cat Lily.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Bill, Bobby, and Donny; sister Dorothy; brothers-in-law Billy Kowalski and Ed Schroeder; sisters-in-law Judy Schroeder, Donna Berdan, and Aileene Berdan; nephews David Berdan, Dale Kowalski; and niece Cindy Kowalski.
A visitation will be held on Thursday August 13 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at St. Wencel’s Catholic Church in Neva. A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 AM at the church. Father Michael Thiel will officiate. Interment will be in St. Wencel’s Cemetery in Neva.
