Craig Jeffrey "CJ" Marx, of Antigo, lost his battle with liver disease on Sunday, February 27th, 2022 at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was 36 years old. An avid writer and bartender, Craig was a well-know fixture on the Antigo sports scene and enjoyed spending time at his family's cabin on the Wolf River. Craig attended the All Saints Catholic School, graduated with the Antigo High School class of 2004, and attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee before leaving to pursue a dream of travel and life in New Orleans, where he worked at the famed Pat O'Briens. Craig was most recently employed by the Stevens Point MetroWire, where he was starting a new career as an assistant editor/writer. He was previously employed at the Taphouse, Fifth Avenue Restaurant, Antigo Times, and Antigo Daily Journal. He had a life-long passion for writing, reporting and learning that he carried until his time of death. He was born on August 1, 1985, to Cheryl (Zoern) and Jeffrey Marx of Elcho, they survive. He is also survived by a sister, Jillian (Nathan) Wenig, and two beloved nephews Eli and Samuel. He is further survived by his aunts Rhonda Cram, Sharon (Clyde) Adams, Barbara (Charles) Zak and uncles Joseph (Darlene) Zoern, and Walter Zoern (special friend JoAnn Krause). He is also further survived by an extended family of cousins, aunts and uncles and friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Robert and Dolores Marx, maternal grandparents, Letty and Walter Zoern, step-grandfather John Kirsch, uncle David Cram, and aunts Dody Costner, Darlene Zoern, Susan Zoern, Michele Zoern, and Virginia Zoern. A memorial service for Craig will be held on March 5, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home with Father Charles Hoffmann officiating. Visitation will take place prior to the service at the funeral home from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Friends and family are invited to Fifth Avenue Restaurant following the service until 2:00 PM for food and fellowship. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his honor to the Langlade County Historical Society and All Saints Catholic School.
