It is with gratitude for a life well lived that we announce that Dale Schroeder a devoted follower of Christ, a loving husband, exceptional father, and devoted grandpa entered into eternal life at the age of 74 on June 9, 2026, surrounded by his beloved wife and children.
Dale was born on March 1,1952, in Antigo, WI, the son of the late Donald and Delores (Schultz) Schroeder. He was a graduate of Antigo High School and a pitcher for the high school state championship baseball team. His love for baseball continued well beyond high school playing on many county leagues and in area summer tournaments well into his retirement years. Due to the unexpected death of his younger brother Larry, he made the decision to return home from college in Eau Claire to take over operations and ownership of his family farm. Returning home would become one of the best decisions of his life as he then met the love of his life, Denise (Borneman). They were united in marriage on October 14,1972. For 54 years they built a beautiful life committed fully to one another and grounded in faith, family, and service to the community and their church.
Dale was an active member of the community serving on a variety of church, community and town boards and committees. He was a lieutenant firefighter for the Town of Norwood volunteer fire department and was recently recognized as one of its founding members with 50 years of service to the department.
He was a licensed pilot and enjoyed flying his small Cessna airplane with his family and friends around the state of Wisconsin and beyond. He was an avid lover of the outdoors who shared his love for simple things with his wife, children, grandchildren, and friends like sitting in the screen house with a fire going, swimming in the lake on their property & floating with not 1 but 2 water noodles out to the middle of it, full moon boat rides with his wife around the lake, and Sunday afternoon nature walks in the woods. He never missed a gun deer hunting season, and he found more joy in time spent out in the woods with his family than getting a prized buck. He attended many tea parties with his grandkids, spent countless hours playing board and card games with them, and his lap was always ready for them to snuggle up on to read books, brush hair, or just rock and watch TV.
He leaves behind a legacy of faith and love and is survived by his wife Denise; his children Destiny (Quint) Shultz, Christy Ehlert, Casey (Blake) Olson, Don (Rachel) Schroeder, and Elishah (Emily) Schroeder; his grandchildren Adelie Ehlert, Eliana Ehlert, Dale “DJ” Schroeder, Ruby Olson, Gavin Olson, Jessica Schroeder, Lucas Schroeder, Amelia Olson, Abigail Olson, Evan Schroeder, Everett Schroeder, and Emiline Schroeder; sister Sue Pellet; brothers Bill (Sue) Schroeder and Ronnie (Betsy) Schroeder; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and in-laws, he was preceded in death by his son, Logan; his brother Larry Schroeder; his brother Alan & sister-in-law Barbara Schroeder; and his brother-in-law Ron Pellett.
Dale’s life will be remembered and celebrated at a visitation on Friday, June 19, 2026, from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home in Antigo. A visitation will also be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Weston with a funeral service to follow starting at 11:00 AM at the church with Pastor Lance Hoelscher officiating. Lunch will be served immediately following the service in the fellowship area of the church.
You won’t find any flowers at Dale’s funeral because he thought they were “a waste of money” so the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Hagar House or Bridge Street Missions, both in Wausau, WI.“Looking forward to seeing you in heaven.” – Dale
