Daniel Scott Stecker, of Merrill and a former Menasha resident, died Sat., May 30 in Langlade County as a result of a motorcycle accident. He was 55 years old.He was born Dec. 12, 1953 in Oshkosh, son of Lyle and Elinor (nee Dombrowfski) Stecker. He was a graduate of Menasha High School.Dan married Amy (nee Lueke), and they raised two children in VanDyne. They were later divorced. He moved to Merrill, where he met his loving friend Rose Ford. She survives. Dan was employed as vice president of operations at Yorde Tool and Machining. He formerly worked at Hoffmaster Inc. and Crown Lift Truck. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps, where he served as military police.Dan enjoyed hunting, fishing, and motorcycling. He treasured time spent outdoors with his son, Adam. He was proud of the accomplishments of his daughter, Sarah, and he enjoyed watching her athletic events. In addition, he loved travelling to the cottage with his cousin Brian, who was like a brother.Survivors include his daughter, Sarah Stecker of Menasha; son, Adam Stecker of Menasha and currently stationed in California for the Marine Corps; mother, Elinor Stecker of Menasha; loving friend, Rose Ford and her son Christian; 3 sisters, Patricia (Alan) VandenWyngaard of Appleton, Donna (Charles) Rundquist of Menasha, Carol (Kevin) Stengl of Menasha; former wife, Amy (nee Lueke) Stecker; and 7 nieces and nephews, Christopher (Amanda), Stacy, Vanessa (fiancé Nathan), Andrew, Anna, Hailey, and Michael; great niece and nephews, Alexa, Kaelin, and Candon.He is preceded in death by his father, Lyle.
