Darlene Lopas

Darlene (Van Handel) Lopas, 83 of Post Lake, WI died on October 10, 2021 at her home under the care of her family and Aspirus LeRoyer Hospice. She was born November 17, 1937 in Cicero, WI, daughter of Dorothy and Arthur Van Handel. She married Donald Lopas in April, 1959. Darlene and Don raised their family in Appleton, WI and retired to Post Lake, WI. They enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Some of her favorite activities were her weekly sheepshead and mahjong games with friends, and her crochet get togethers. She also enjoyed going to the casino, watching the Brewers, pontoon boat rides, and time with her special friend, Fritz. Darlene and Don are survived by their children: Greg (Kim) Lopas, Kris (Tim) Rau, Doug (Katie) Lopas, Ken (Jenny) Lopas, and Barney (Lori) Lopas, nine grandchildren: Scott (Jacqueline), Adam (Jesse), Skylar, Courtney (Jeremy), Logan (Kaitlyn), JT., Gunnar, Cassie, Justine, six great grandchildren: Rowan, Rhea, Dorothy, Graham, Annalee, Walter, and her special grand dog George. She had one sister, Karen (Roger) Green and one brother, Dick (Donna) Van Handel. Darlene was preceded in death by her husband Don, son Doug, parents Dorothy and Arthur, her inlaws Toni and Jerry, and a sister Karen Green. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, October 16 at 12:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Elcho. Reverend David Zimmerman will officiate.
