Dearl Tackett, age 88, of Antigo died Tuesday at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Mr. Tackett was born on July 9, 1925 to the late Hiram and Minnie (Egan) Tackett in Hollister. On July 9, 1949 he was united in marriage to Louise Roberts at First Baptist Church in Antigo. She survives. Mr. Tackett served in the US Army from 1944-45 in the 80th division under General Patton. He was awarded the Purple Heart and four Bronze Stars. He dairy farmed, was employed by Marathon Electric, Grantman Beverages, and as a custodian for the Unified School District of Antigo. Mr. Tackett enjoyed hunting, fishing, and feeding the birds. He loved to go for rides and enjoyed 4th of July celebrations. He was a member of Antigo Bible Church. In addition to his wife, survivors include 2 daughters, Cheryl (John) Spencer of Bryant, Helene (Chuck) Goebel of Weston, a son, Lyle Tackett of Antigo, 5 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and a brother Virgil "Chuck" (Phyllis) Tackett of Berrien Springs, MI. He was preceded in death by 6 sisters, Onie, Catherine, Verda, Shrone, Vivian and Rita, and a brother Rosco. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00AM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. Rev. James Reed will officiate. Visitation will be Saturday at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the service. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery with Military Honors.
