Dennis Frederick Novy

Dennis Frederick Novy passed away at Marshfield Clinic in Weston on December 27, 2023 at the age of 74.


Dennis was born on February 12, 1949 in Antigo to the late Joseph and Gladys (Ploederl) Novy. On November 14, 1970, he was united in marriage to Shaughn (Brandt) at Peace Lutheran Church.


He graduated from Antigo High School, class of 1968. He volunteered and served in the U.S. Army, serving 2 tours in Vietnam. During his time in the service, Dennis and Shaughn spent time residing in Texas as he wrapped up his second tour.


Dennis trained as an apprentice and journeyman before achieving status as a certified sprinkler fitter. Dennis was a sprinkler fitter with over thirty years in the industry, retiring from Fireline Sprinkler with the unique distinction of zero sick days used.


Dennis was a member of St. John Catholic Church. He enjoyed trout fishing, hunting, and making trails through the woods on his land. He especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren, teaching them to hunt and being in the woods with them. He liked to help with Shaughn’s horses and work on projects around the property and always with his canine friend, Charli, in close step.


Dennis enjoyed volunteering at Blackhawk Hill Summer Program for youth. Dennis and his family were instrumental in starting this local community program. Dennis was welcoming and active with all obstacle course competitors. He enjoyed opening his home and property to help local community youth.


Survivors in addition to his wife, Shaughn include his three children: Marcus (Kelli) Novy of Pewaukee, McKenzie (fiancé Mike Wanca) Antigo, Nicholas (Quinn) Novy of Antigo, grandchildren: Elijah, Addison, Violet, Marli, and Ethan Novy, Alexis (Alex) Basler, Bailey Novy-Glenetske and Alyssa Glenetske, a brother Robert (Diane) Novy of Antigo, 2 sister-in-laws Deb Novy and Janet Novy, a brother-in-law Ron Wild.


In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by 2 sisters: Patricia Wild and Margaret Wild, 2 brothers: James and Thomas, and a brother-in-law Norm Wild.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. John Catholic Church on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at 12:00 PM. Visitation will take place prior the Mass at the church from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The Very Reverend Joel Sember is officiating. Military honors will be held at the church following the service. Burial will take place at Queen of Peace Cemetery on a later date.
