Dennis Lightfoot

Dennis Donald Lightfoot, age 79, of Phlox passed away Monday, October 14, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family.

Dennis was born March 29, 1945 in Beloit, WI to the late Donald and Gladys Lightfoot.

He was united in marriage to Dianne Kay Hess on January 9, 1965 in Beloit.

Following high school, Dennis served in the US Air Force. He then became a lineman and settled in Phlox working in this region for Wisconsin Power and Light and then Alliant Energy for 35 years.

Dennis was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Mattoon.

He enjoyed the outdoors, trapping, hunting, fishing and riding his Harley Davidson. Dennis dearly loved his family and held a long-loved tradition of Sunday evening family dinners.

In addition to his wife, Dianne, Dennis is survived by a son Clayton (Paula) Lightfoot of Antigo, a granddaughter Lindsey Kay Lightfoot, a brother Gary (Colleen) Lightfoot of St. Helena Island, SC, sisters: Sandi Wagelie of Tuscon, AZ, Lola Nelson of Beloit, WI, a sister-in-law Judy Lightfoot, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Lance, and brothers-in-law Dr. Reuben Wagelie and Michael Nelson.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 22 at 2:00 PM at St. John Lutheran Church in Mattoon. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the service at the church. Reverend Steven N. Pockat will officiate.
