Diane Marie Wagnes

Diane Marie Wagnes, age 74, of Antigo passed away January 4, 2022 at The Bay at Eastview under the care of their staff, her family, and LeRoyer Hospice. Diane was born on June 8, 1947, a daughter of the late Floyd and Evelyn (McGuire) Galarowicz. Diane attended St. Hyacinth’s Catholic School and was a graduate of Antigo High School class of 1965. In May of 1968, she was united in marriage to Roger Wagnes. He preceded her in death on December 7, 2021. Diane was employed by Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation Center as a dietary aid for 30 years. There, she formed some of her dearest friendships, which brought much joy and laughter. Her work there went beyond the kitchen, for Diane was known for caring for the residents and their families while the residents were in their final hours by providing coffee, food, and her kindness. Diane enjoyed going to BB Jacks with Roger, loving on their dog Nahla, and repeated episodes of The Golden Girls. She loved her family so very dearly. The grandchildren were the light of her life. She was affectionately known as “Herbie” to her family. Survivors include her daughters; Nikki (Andrew Spanberg) Olson of Wausau and Jamie (Shane) Lund of Antigo, grandchildren; Dustin (Ashley) Lund, Savannah Wagnes, Bailey Olson (Natasha Voytovich), Sam Lund, sisters; Kathy (Jerry) Carter and Sharon (Gary) Krugel both of Antigo, a brother Dennis (Debbie) Bula of Eagle River, a sister-in-law Shirley Tatro of Antigo, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Diane was preceded in death by a son Scott Wagnes, a brother Jerry Bula, and a sister Barb Wick. A visitation for both Diane and Roger will be held on Friday, January 7 from 5:00 PM until 7:30 PM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. Well Herbie Derby, if there’s a BB Jack’s in heaven (and I’m pretty sure there is) we know you’re having your little Windsor old-fashioned sweet with dad on one side of you and Scotty on the other.
