Diane Sharon Montour

Diane Sharon Montour, age 86, of Antigo, passed away on February 1, 2025, at Azura Memory Care in Wausau, WI under the care of her family and Interim Hospice. Diane was born in Milwaukee on June 30, 1938, to the late Raymond and Francis (Matteson) Larsen. She grew up in New Berlin attending Shady Nook Elementary and Juneau High School. Diane graduated from Gwinn High School in Gwinn, Michigan.

On January 14, 1956, Diane was united in marriage to Lawrence Montour in New Berlin, WI. As a military spouse, Diane set up a home for her family in England and throughout the United States. During this time, four children were born in four different states. Following Larry’s retirement, Diane and Larry resided in Pickerel and then moved to Antigo.

Diane was a wonderful homemaker, an excellent cook, baker, and a master quilter. She gifted beautiful quilts to family members which will be forever cherished. Diane was an avid bowler, serving as secretary for leagues and a coach for Youth Bowling. She read hundreds of thousands of books in her lifetime and was a frequent visitor and contributor to the Antigo Public Library.

Diane was an active member of Faith United Church of Christ and served on the deaconate.

Survivors in addition to her husband, Larry, include a daughter, Sherry Walz (Ignacio) of Surprise, AZ, sons, John Montour of Aniwa and Daniel S. Montour of Johnson Creek; grandchildren, Michael Terrell, Sean Shelton, Daniel J. Montour and Kyle Montour; step-grandson, Derrick Walz; 4 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild, a brother James (Jerri) Larsen and a sister-in-law Sylvia Larsen both of New Berlin.

In addition to her parents, Diane was preceded in death by her son, David Montour, grandson, Robert Montour, daughter-in-law, Tina Montour, sister, Janith Novitzke and brother, Donald Larsen.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 7 at 11:00 AM at Faith United Church of Christ with Reverend Wes Jedras officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 6 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home and on Friday at the church from 10:00 AM until the service. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Diane’s name can be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Wisconsin Chapter.
