Donald F. Sagle, age 77 of Antigo passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2022. He was born on April 20, 1945 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin to Donald K. and Emma (Bohlman) Sagle. He attended Lincoln Grade School and Goodrich High School in Fond Lu Lac. He served in the United States Amy from 1963 to 1966. On February 17, 1968, he united in marriage to Vera Gierke. She preceded him in death on January 31, 2018. The couple lived in Plymouth, Sheboygan, Wausau and then Antigo. They raised two children. Following military service, Don was a Maintenance Mechanic. Don enjoyed fishing, visiting with family and friends and riding his scooter around Antigo on the walking trails. He is survived by a son Scott (Monica) Sagle of Siren, and daughter Sara (Jim) Adamski of Antigo. He is also survived by three grandchildren Emma Sagle, Micah Sagle, and Jacob Adamski. He is further survived by three sisters: Joyce Swisher of Las Cruces, New Mexico; Sandra (David) DeZwarte of Plymouth; Ida (Arden) Wieck of Howards Grove; one brother: Robert (Germaine) Sagle of Fredonia; and sister-in-law, Ruby Pitsch of Sheboygan; and two brother-in-laws, Stanley (Verna) McCabe of Kiel; and Walt (Dianne) Gierke of Kiel. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, Don was preceded in death by his brother, Jerome Sagle; brothers-in laws George Swisher, Donald McCabe, Philip McCabe, and Ralph Pitsch; and sister-in-laws Ruth Butler, Marcie McCabe and Rosemarie McCabe; and his mother-in-law Ida McCabe-Gierke and father-in-law Walter Gierke. A funeral service will take place Saturday, June 4 at 11:00 am at Calvary Lutheran Church with Vicar Jennifer Sosinski officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 10am to the time of the service. Interment will take place at Elmwood Cemetery with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Don’s name. The family would like to send special thanks to the entire staff of the Veterans Home Based Primary Care team and the staff of Aspirus, also to Don's caregiver Mary for the wonderful and compassionate care they provided. We would also like to thank the members and friends of Calvary Lutheran Church for their prayers and service. Also, thank you to Strasser Roller Funeral Home for wonderful care and support during this time. Heaven has gained a kindhearted soul who will be greatly missed by his family.
