Doris Elizabeth Burkhart died Monday, October 28, 2013 at her home in Kent under the care of her family and LeRoyer Hospice. She was 75 years old. She was born May 22, 1938 in Kent, daughter of the late John and Lalie (Arrowood) Cunningham. She was a 1956 graduate of Antigo High School. She later attended training in library services, and she worked at the Antigo Public Library. She was instrumental in starting the library's outreach program. She was also a homemaker. She married Floyd Burkhart on August 10, 1957 at First Baptist Church in Antigo. He survives. Mrs. Burkhart was an active member of First Baptist Church since 1978. She enjoyed sewing, Sodoku, reading, and knitting. Her family and her church were especially important to her. In addition to her husband, she is survived by 4 daughters, Lalie (Steven) Wilke of Lake Mills, WI, Laura (Brian) Shidell of Brokaw, Linda Burkhart of Antigo, and Sarah (David) Borneman of Deerbrook; 2 sons, Frank Burkhart of Bryant, and Floyd Burkhart of Bryant; 3 sisters, Gail (John) Priebe of Aniwa, Rosalyn Cunningham of Wausau, and Virginia (Allan ) Endres of Athens; 2 brothers, Frank (Jan) Cunningham of Hayward, and Arthur Cunningham of Valdosta, GA; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and 3 sisters-in-law, Judy Cunningham of Rancho Santa Fe, CA, Judy Cook of Florida, and Beverly Cunningham of Hayward. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Elaine Salyers and Ruth Cunningham, and 2 brothers, Alan Cunningham and Edward Cunningham. A funeral will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Antigo, with Joseph H. Gaunt officiating. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home, and 10:00-11:00 a.m. Friday at the church. Interment will follow the service at Bent Cemetery in Bryant. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to LeRoyer Hospice.
