Doris M. Kamin

November 1, 1928 — March 5, 2012

Doris M. Kamin, age 83, of the Town of Upham, died Monday at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on November 1, 1928 in Bessmer, MI to the late Earl and Stella (Anderson) Richey. She married Lawrence "Curly" Kamin on June 28, 1952 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Deerbrook. He survives. Mrs. Kamin graduated from Bessemer High School and then moved to Antigo with her family. She later moved to Milwaukee, where she met Lawrence. They returned to this area and resided in the Deerbrook area. Mrs. Kamin worked as a waitress at area restaurants including Fry's Restaurant, Happy's Café, and Mary's. She was also a dietary aid at Eastview Manor. Mrs. Kamin was an active member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Deerbrook, where she was a member of their Ladies Aid, and taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school. She enjoyed being a member and volunteering for many organizations including Girls Scouts, VFW Auxilliary, Good Luck Homemakers Club and the Lioness Club. Mrs. Kamin loved knitting, crocheting, and cooking. She was an avid bowler and loved a game of Canasta. In addition to her husband, survivors include two daughters, Luanne (Don) Christenson of Antigo and Loreen (Bob) of Antigo, 3 sons, Leroy of Aberdeen, SD, Leslie and special friend Lori Walters of Antigo, Linn (Jennifer) of Aberdeen, SD, 13 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and a brother Donald Richey of Duluth, MN. Mrs. Kamin was preceded in death by a son Larry, a sister, Darlene Homar and 3 brothers, Demaine, Doug and David Richey. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Deerbrook. Reverend Jerome Hahn will officiate. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:00AM until the service at the church. Strasser-Roller Funeral Home is assisting the family.
