Doris M. Norem

Doris M. Norem, lifelong area resident, died at her home in Antigo on Thursday, July 18, 2013. She was 77 years old. She was born Feb. 18, 1936 in Polar, daughter of the late Alex and Elsa (Riemer) Kolpack. She married James Norem on May 21, 1955 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Polar. He preceded her in death Dec. 2, 2011. She graduated from Antigo High School in 1954, and worked as a clerk in the Bryant Post Office for over 16 years. Mrs. Norem was a member of St. Peter Lutheran church. She expressed her love of music by playing the church organ and singing in the church choir. She enjoyed woodcarving, crocheting, knitting, and needlepoint. She also baked and decorated wedding cakes. Survivors include her daughter, Catherine Norem of Antigo; son Matthew (Janis) of Green Bay; 3 sisters, Lorraine Wheeler of Antigo, Joan Labbus of Antigo, and Maxine Basely of Bryant; 3 brothers, Rueben (Lucille) Kolpack of Polar, Milton Kolpack of Polar, and Norman (Marge) Kolpack of Polar; 4 grandchildren, Joshua (Jackie) Norem, Caitlin Norem, Lea Hilton, and Grant Hilton; 3 great-grandsons, Nicholas, Jaxon, and Alexander. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Renata Lucht and Adeline Kelm, and 2 brothers, Edwin Kolpack and Lloyd Kolpack. A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 27 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, with Pastor Donald Engebretson officiating. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 on Saturday at the church. Inurnment will follow the service at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery.
