Dorothy Rose Hoffman

Dorothy Rose Hoffman died Monday, November 28 at her Aniwa home under care of her family and LeRoyer Hospice. She was 90 years old. She was born February 18, 1921 in Bevent, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Walter Czech and Julia (Wanta) Czech. She married Frank Hoffman in Bevent on October 25, 1941 at ST. Ladislaus Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on November 11, 1997. Mrs. Hoffman was a homemaker and dairy famed with her husband in Aniwa. She was active in the Christian Mother's Society at St. Boniface and also volunteered where needed including cleaning, ironing and helping others in any way she could. She attended school in Bevent and later went on to earn her GED in her 60's. She enjoyed art and was accomplished in acrylic painting. Gardening, canning and family gatherings were important to her and she relished crossword puzzles. Survivors include three daughters, Jane (Jeff) Binder, Sturgeon Bay, Sally ( friend, Jeff Priest) Hoffman, Aniwa and Paula (Lance) Reimer, Birnamwood; five sons, Alan (Katherine) Hoffman, New London, Clair (Maria) Hoffman, Antigo, Lowell (Nancy) Hoffman, Wausau, Mark (Kathryn) Hoffman, Kronewetter, and Howard (Julie) Hoffman, Athens; 27 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, and 32 great grandchildren; sisters, Sylvia Burant, Schofield, Sally (Vilas) Sonntag, Schofield and Mattie Mientke, Slinger; brothers, Willie Czech, Schofield, and James (Rosie) Czech, Vail, AZ. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Mariah Hoffman, sisters, Codelia Wanta and Irene Szmanski and brothers, Ambrose, Adam, and Father Edmund –Carl Czech. Memorials in her name may be made to St. Boniface Catholic Church. A memorial service will be held at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Aniwa on Friday, December 2 at 12:00 pm. Father Everard Scesney will officiate. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 am until time of service at the church. Burial will be in Aniwa Catholic Cemetery.
