Dr. Bernard W. "Buzz" Beattie

Dr. Bernard W. "Buzz" Beattie, age 84, of Antigo died Tuesday at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.Dr. Beattie was born May 24, 1924 in Langlade County. On June 25, 1955 he married Nancy Kommers at St. John Catholic Church in Antigo. She preceded him in death on December 29, 2002.Dr. Beattie was a graduate of Antigo High School. He then graduated from Southern Methodist University and completed medical school at Marquette University on the GI bill. He went on to his residency at St. Luke's Hospital in Milwaukee where he became chief resident. Dr. Beattie was an avid sports fan. Dr. Beattie served in the US Army during WWII as a medic in the Pacific Theater. Survivors include 2 sons Steven of Antigo and Curtis (Jane) of Schofield, 3 grandchildren, and a sister Nona (Otto) Wirth of Bass Lake and Florida. In addition to his wife, Dr. Beattie was preceded in death by 2 brothers Richard and Homer.
