Edward M. Hose

Edward M. Hose of Antigo died Thurs., May 7 at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation. He was 80 years old.He was born in Antigo on July 7, 1928, son of the late Edward and Gudrun (Wooland) Hose. He married Carla Fassbender on Oct. 28, 1950 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Polar, and she survives.Mr. Hose graduated from Antigo High School in 1946.He was employed at American Motors in Milwaukee from 1946-1950, then returned to the Antigo area to work on the family dairy farms. He owned and operated Ed Hose Livestock Trucking, starting the business in 1967. He later ran Ed and Carla's in Mattoon with his wife. In 1995, he moved to Antigo.Mr. Hose was a baseball player, pitching and playing first base in county league. He also enjoyed horseshoes, cribbage, and watching the Brewers and Packers. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and teasing them. He was very proud of all his grandchildren and their accomplishments.Survivors, in addition to his wife, Carla, include 3 daughters, Cheryl (Robert) Hoffman of Plover, Julia (Douglas) Below of Antigo, Jayne (Charles) Novak of Kewaunee; 3 sons, John (Lory) Hose of Deerbrook, James (Wanda) Hose of Polar, and Dennis (Fiance Joan Antoniewicz) Hose of Polar; 13 grandchildren, Sheree (Curt) Spencer of Antigo, Kristofor Hose of Wausau, Ryan (Carrie) Hoffman of Bloomington, IL, Eric (special friend Erin Reynebeau) Hoffman of Plover, Beau and Britney Below of Antigo, Stefanie (Fiance Joe Tatro) Hose of Phlox, Aaron (Brittney) Hose of Antigo, Nikayla and Haylie Novak of Kewaunee, Lyle and Nikki Castona of Minnesota, and Beth Jacobs of IN; 4 great grandchildren, Erika and Gabrielle Spencer, and Courtney and McKenzie Jacobs; 6 sisters in law, Shirely Gamsky of Appleton, Donna Teske of Milwaukee, Joanne (Dr. James) Losito of CA, Judy Tilch of IL, Mary Fassbender of Milwaukee, and Ann Fassbender of Milwaukee; and many nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, Mr. Hose is preceded in death by his mother and father in law, Berniece and Walter Fassbender, and 3 brothers in law, Lyle Fassbender, Phillip Fassbender, and Joseph Gamsky.
