Elaine Margaret Reynolds

Elaine Margaret (Tveten) Reynolds of Elcho, age 92, died June 15, 2023, at Antigo Eastview following a stroke.


She was born February 5, 1931 in Elcho, the youngest child of the late Ole and Marie (Johnson) Tveten. She married her high school sweetheart, Robert Lee Reynolds on September 30, 1950 in Deerbrook at St. Matthews Parsonage. He proceeded her in death July 18, 2005.


Elaine attended Elcho School and graduated from Elcho High School in 1948.


Elaine was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Elcho where she played the organ, was a Sunday School Teacher, was a member of Ladies Aid, Altar Guild, Bible Study and LWML. Elaine started playing the organ at St Luke’s Church in 1947 while in high school on an old foot pump organ. She took time off playing the organ after getting married to help her husband Bob and to raise their family. Over the years they lived in Antigo, Caroline, Clintonville before returning to the area living in Post Lake, Deerbrook, and then Elcho. Together they worked on mink ranches, had a dairy farm, logged and peeled popple. Elaine returned to playing the organ full-time at St. Luke’s in 1970 after her youngest son was born, until retiring in the Fall of 2019.

Elaine was very talented at crocheting. Over the years she crocheted many blankets, hats, mittens, scarfs for family and friends, made hats for babies in hospitals, hacky sacks for school children and lap blankets for nursing homes. She passed on her knowledge to her children and grandchildren. With help from one of her grandchildren, Elaine finished a blanket for her great grandson in May, 2020. She continued to crochet until recently.


Elaine grew up around horses and loved them all her life. She loved to ride them, watch them race and draw them. She passed that love of horses to her children and grandchildren. She also liked to sing and play the guitar. She recorded a record with her friend Mary.


Elaine enjoyed all kinds of puzzles - jigsaw puzzles, sudoko, crossword, word search etc. Her favorite shows to watch were Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, Bob Ross and Westerns. She enjoyed following the Milwaukee Brewers, especially listening to Bob Uecker.


Elaine and Bob had eleven children. Survivors include their children David of Milwaukee, Christine (Dennis) Guetzke of Sussex, Dennis (Sandy) of Crandon, Bruce of Summit Lake, Robert (Angie) of Post Lake, Marty of Elcho, Debbie (Steve) Baker of Deerbrook, Jerry (Lisa) of Elcho, Holly (Cavan Kelly) Reynolds of Antigo, and Jonathan (Jamie) of Elcho. She had numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Frances Howe of Antigo.

Besides her parents and husband Bob, Elaine was preceded in death by her son Dale; her granddaughter Nicole Reynolds; her great-granddaughter Summer Prost; a sister Ruth Mikolajak ; and brothers Douglas, Walter, Gordon, Charles and Dean Tveten.


A funeral service for Elaine will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Elcho. Rev. Paul Radtke presiding. Interment Elcho Cemetery. Visitation will take place prior to the service at the church from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
