Elizabeth "Betsy" Below, age 71, of Antigo died Monday at her home under the care of LeRoyer Hospice and her family. Betsy was born July 29, 1941 to the late Herbert and Elizabeth (Gallion) Below. She was a graduate of Antigo High School class of 1959. She served in the US Army from 1962-1965, where she earned her nursing degree. Betsy worked as a registered nurse for many years, living in California and Hawaii. She returned to Antigo upon retirement, where she enjoyed spending time with her sisters, traveling, and winters in Arizona. She was loved by all who knew her for her sense of humor and kindness to others. She had a great love of animals and her family. She enjoyed snorkeling, and will be remembered for her adventurous spirit. Through her travels and living in various areas of the country, she made many lifelong friends. Survivors include a sister Evelyn Piskula of Antigo; 3 brothers, Charles Below of Antigo, Jule Below of Alabama, and David (Marlene) Below of Antigo; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister Doris Kryka and a brother Ken Below. In accordance with Betsy's wishes no formal service will be held. A memorial will be established in her name to the Langlade County Humane Society. A special thank you to the oncology department at the St. Joseph's Center, the nieces for their care, and all the friends and relatives who called, sent cards, and showed support in so many ways.
