Ellen Dolleen Garritty

On August 6, 2023, our dear mother, Ellen Dolleen Garritty, age 92, entered peacefully into the presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ.

Ellen was born September 18, 1930, to Albert and Hilda Fluegel of Wausau, WI. On August 9, 1952, Ellen became the wife of Dr. John E Garritty II for the next 67 years. She grew up in Wausau, WI and worked at Wisconsin Public Service before marrying John Garritty and moving to Antigo.

Though she never went to college, her children felt she had many degrees. Hospitality, Pianist, Seamstress, Quilter, MasterChef, Endless Giver of Yard Care... Her character will be remembered for her Godly traits of unselfishness, perseverance, compassion, and her incredible use of time in serving the Lord and her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Dale and Lane, a sister Mavis, and her beloved husband Dr. John E Garritty II. She is survived by 7 children and their families. Ruth McPhail (Don), Janet Lawton (Mike), Aimee Best (Nathan), Margaret Prinsen, Susan Johns (Ted), Karla Fesmire (Tom) and John E Garritty III (Lori-Lee). She has 26 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren.

A private family celebration of her life will take place. Special thanks to the amazing caregivers at Rosalia Gardens Memory Care, Aspirus Healthcare and Aspirus Hospice. Thank you to the Strasser Funeral Home team for assisting the family with the funeral arrangements.
