Eloise Irene Verhasselt

Eloise Irene Verhasselt, age 93, formerly of Antigo, passed away December 10, 2024 while residing at Azura Memory Care in Wausau.

Eloise was born on July 13, 1931 in the Town of Nashville, WI, a daughter of the late William and Viola (Sparks) Pitts. She was united to Benedict Verhasselt on June 26, 1952. Ben preceded her in death on October 20, 2020.

She attended Langlade County Teacher’s College and went on to teach in a one room school house. She then taught fourth grade at St. Hyacinth’s Catholic School and retired as a study hall monitor from Antigo High School.

Eloise loved reading, crossword puzzles, working in her flower gardens, and collecting antiques. She canned a variety of vegetables from Ben’s garden. She was artistic and made wagon wheel rugs. She enjoyed long walks and collecting rocks for her garden along the way. She also served as a volunteer for the Antigo Area Food Pantry.

Survivors include a daughter Brenda (Dan) Davis, sons; Dan (Sandy) Verhasselt, Jeff Verhasselt, and Tim (Terri Schultz) Verhasselt, 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. Visitation will take place prior to the service, at the funeral home, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
