Elsie Schenk

April 22, 1934 — January 19, 2013

Elsie Schenk was called to her Savior's arms on January 19, 2013 after a courageous two-year battle with leukemia, with her sons at her side. She was born April 22, 1934 in White Lake to parents Alvin and Florence (Buettner) Simmons. She attended White Lake Elementary and High School, graduating in 1952. She married Duane Schenk, the love of her life, November 15, 1952. They moved to Cedarburg, Wisconsin and raised their family. Upon their retirement, they returned to White Lake and created wonderful memories with family and friends. Her strong faith and tireless energy helped her to serve her church, holding offices in Ladies Aid and Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She joyfully played music wherever she saw a need. Elsie leaves behind sons, Duane and Gary Schenk of Grafton, WI; daughters, Gloria (Lawrence) Loppnow of Wausau, WI, Diane (David) Jeziorski of Fredonia, WI, and JoAnn Seidel of Niagara, WI; grandchildren, Heather (Jeff) Schmidt, Nicole (fiancé David) Schenk, Michelle (Glen) Gildermeister, Paul Jeziorski, Derrick, Gina, and Patrick Seidel; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Jenna, Nicholas, Dylan, Haleigh, Derrick Jr., June, Raedyn, and Daemian; brothers, Grant (Betty) and Gary (Pat) Simmons; sisters, Leila (Lynn) Paul and Gail Chrisler; sisters-in-law, Alice and Judy Simmons; brothers-in-law, George (Dorothy) and "Dan" (Linda) Schenk; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She joins her husband, Duane; parents; and brothers, Hilbert, Harlan, and Roland Simmons; and sister, Nola Krueger. The family requests donations to St. Matthew Lutheran Church of White Lake Bell Tower Fund, Tabor Lutheran Church of Mountain, WI, or the charity of your choice. Funeral will take place Friday, January 25 at 12:00 noon at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. Visitation will be 10:30-12:00 Friday at the church. Burial at Langlade Cemetery will follow the service.
