Elva E. Brandt, lifelong resident of Bryant and Polar, died Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Kindred – Eastview in Antigo. She was 88 years old. She was born Sept. 1, 1925 in Polar, daughter of the late Leonard and Verna (Pautz) Parsons. She attended Franklin School. She was united in marriage to Herbert Brandt on June 15, 1947 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Polar. Herbert preceded her in death on Feb. 8, 1990. She was a homemaker and dairy farmer. She had also worked at Vulcan, Weinbrenner Shoe Factory, area potato fields, and as a nanny for Dr. Boll, an Antigo dentist. She butchered 300 chickens each year, and was known for her cinnamon rolls, braided sesame bread, and crazy devil's food cake. She and her husband established Brandt's Sleigh Rides. Mrs. Brandt was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church her entire life. She was baptized, confirmed, and married in the church. She was a member of Ladies Aid and LWML. In addition, she was active in missions, making quilts, baby layettes, and school bags to send to those in need. She was truly devoted to her church and her family. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ellen (Dan) Kolpack of Marquette, MI; 3 sons, Edward (Chris) Brandt, Floyd (Tina) Brandt, and Calvin (Cindy) Brandt, all of Bryant; 4 sisters, Charlotte Holub of Appleton, Lois Wendt of Kaukauna, Thelma (David) Goese of Shawano, Emily Parsons of Shawano; 15 grandchildren, Scott ( Meg )Foster, Jenny Brady (special friend Bob), Holly Foster, Angela (Brad) Scott, Bill (Marianne) Kolpack, Chad (Roseanne) Brandt, Jason (Jessica) Brandt, Shalynn (Rick) Domke, Dustin (Jacky) Brandt, Heather (Chris) Noskowiak, Josh (Kelly) Brandt, Jeremy Brandt (special friend Erica), Stephanie Brandt (fiancé Andy Dorzweiler), Nykki Brandt, and Tyler Brandt; 17 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandsons; and a sister-in-law, Lucille Parsons of Antigo. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by 2 great-grandchildren, Isaac Brady and Faith Foster, and 3 brothers-in-law, Sylvester Holub, Bud Wendt, and Carl Parsons. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Polar, with Rev. Donald Engebretson officiating. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home and 9:30-11:00 a.m. Thursday at the church. Interment will follow the service at St. Peter's Church Cemetery.
